Rofl. This isn't usually my beat, but anytime a company get busted for trying to pass a $500 machine for $3500 simply by reboxing it is too funny to pass up.

Weekend

Spent the weekend doing Christmasy stuff. Got a small pre-lit tree, got the table ready for the Christmas town, decorated the entertainment center with lighted garlands and purchased a few items with our prize gift cards at Khol's.

Never got around to making cookies, but that's ok. I went and bought some chocolate chip cookies to tie us over till when we do get to it.

Making plans to do a Christmas dinner.

Not too bad for a weekend.

Senate Procedural rules.

You know I don't think most people understoo this, but this means we'd have to take a look at those flip flop ads again since apparently there is a thing where senators have to vote yes or no on whether to allow the bill to be discussed on the senate floor and another vote is the more meaningful vote whether to be "for" or "against" the bill.

I never understood what filabuster meant till just now... well... i understand it better now.

Why do I get the feeling that anyone who would think for themselves by asking questions to verify the logic or truth behind the information are now being called elitists?

Are we now being told that thinking for oneself is now "Un-American"?

SJSU new fees.... ouch!

People going for a MBA at SJSU has just been hit with something called a business graduate professional fee. Basically it's to maintain its "prestigeous" international accreditation from AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). For this privillege, all graduate students are to pay an extra $210 per UNIT. That's $630 in extra fees for a standard 3 unit class.

I don't think I was going back to SJSU for a MBA... now there doesn't seem to be a reason to. The state colleges are becoming just as expensive as private colleges with better recognition and reputation.

Type if your issue. It will give you a list. Some of which it can ask you a series of questions that will let you know how soon you need to see a Dr.

For those who like to procrastinate, this might be the kick in the butt to get in there before too late:

I checked out my problem. It said I should get into see someone within 24 hours. Guess I should go today since it started to hurt yesterday.

I don't think I can make this work for my cat. the cat claws are too short and the stop guard is more of a hinder than a help.

Unless I am using the thing wrong... which I don't think I am. I wouldn't use it on a cat. Their nails are too short. I can see it working on Dogs just fine. I might give it to my sister for his dog or something.

It's time to switch from my hotmail to google I think...

MSN just reformatted Hotmail to have the banner up top more annoying than ever and unavoidable. They make me scroll down a window to get through all my emails. This means that flashing annoying advert stays right where it is... annoying the crap out of me.

I don't have to take that shit. I'm moving my email needs elsewhere... >:( bastards.

That SF marathon have me pissed off. The person who ran 11 min better than anyone else in the race didn't "win" the race because she didn't declare herself an "elite" runner. Why don't they just say announce your intention to compete? That would have been less confusing than declare if you're an elite runner. The elite group was given a head start so they aren't mixed in the mob as they start their race. Isn't that part of marathon races too??

Anyway, they said she didnt win because she wasn't in the "elite" group even though she kicked everyone's ass in there.

Ya ya. competitors gage their competitors to see how much they can reserve to hold out to the end. but This girl ran to the best of her abilities not just a little better than the threat. I think they should have announced her win instead of just telling her no. sorry you didn't say you're one of the best and therefore you can't win now.

Stupid bastards.

Someone whom I admire

Rachel Maddow:

A graduate of Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, California, Maddow later obtained a degree in public policy from Stanford University in 1994.[2] At graduation she was awarded the prestigious John Gardner Fellowship. She then received a Rhodes Scholarship in 1995 and used it to obtain a D.Phil. in political science from Lincoln College, Oxford University.[3]

I do object to the fact she doesn't own a TV... that's just not right.

I was asleep lastnight when this happened, but I read the snopsis. I have to say. You gotta give McCain points for showing up to the Letterman show and getting through some of the tougher questions dished out by anyone McCain's agreed to talk to.

He didn't answer the "Do you think Sarah Palin is ready?" question... not really. He asked the question was Clinton ready? was Regan ready? He didn't actually SAY if Palin was ready. I don't think evading that question like that helps with the general preception that Palin isn't ready.

Other than that.... the man's got some balls.

Matt Damon

God forbid someone who happens to be an actor should comment on politics. I checked out his profile last night and as expected, his fan forum is besieged with people calling him an idiot. There were more extreme words telling him to shut up or comment on his intelligence.

Never mind he only dropped out of Harvard to pursue a very sucessful film career. Never mind he wrote an ocar winning movie. Never mind he is an american and therefore has the same right to free speech as the rest of us do.

The fact Matt Damon actually gave reasoning behind his comments and brought up real issues that has yet been answered to the satisfaction of people who don't blindly embrace her for being on the republican ticket.

I too want to know if she "tried" to ban books. Yes, Snopes has already said the rumor about the list of books she tried to ban is false, but the story was she talked to the Librarian about banning books. That is still a valid question.

The follow up question SHOULD be what books did she want banned? Did she have a list in mind?

Today's homework will be trying to find website, news group, tv show, talk radio or whatever... to see if anyone has taken up the vaccume the main stream media has left in its stampede to shift to one side or the other to make sure they keep the ratings that justifies their budgets.

Website such as snopes is doing a great job on keeping the facts straight, but no one is putting it into context nor holding the offenders in check. At least no one that has enough attention from the public.

So. While I find Keith Obermann entertaining and occasionally say things that I want heard, but he is still a pundit and therefore despisable.

So that's what I will do for my weekend I guess. Oh and I quit WoW... more or less.

Swift boat politics

I had to look up the meaning of that political jargon.

I was so looking forward to a real political campaign, but as we're seeing, it's being driven by the "Karl Rove" play book.

It's one thing to have the vice president to talk in a public even on the candidate's behalf or anyone within the organization authorized to make official statements.

Today we have outside organizations not answerable to anyone making charges which may or may not be true, but definately spun in a skewed way to fit a certain political message.

In theory, the media of the past stood on the non-partisan line and were supposedly the watch dog for the people. Today, the new "news" organizations have taken sides one station for each side. Where do we get the truth? The term balanced view is laughable because what use it is to make sure each side have their spin represented. Spins don't help the American people decide their votes based on factual truthes.

Is there a need for a campaign governing board to hold each side to the "stretched truthes" they are spouting? I for one would like to see something like that to happen. In such a way it would be a true impartial referee. No more lies or half truthes. Do their own homework instead of letting the media or people themselves to check the facts.

My point for this entry is: I want to see both campaigns held accountable for the lies put out either by them or by their "friends". I want to see them say "I'm sorry. That story was not true. I appologize for lying to you."

Bridge to No where

It's kind of weird that McCain picked someone who was at one time looking for an ear-marked bills from Congress. Ofcourse Sarah Palin now say she is against the idea for Alaska, but she has definately been on record of saying they should do it now while they have the congress majority that can help get it passed.

Here is something I found what on CNN.Com posted back on 9/22/07 on what John McCain said about such ear-marked bills:

Just last month, presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, said pet projects could have played a role in a Minnesota bridge collapse that killed 13 people earlier this year.

"Maybe if we had done it right, maybe some of that money would have gone to inspect those bridges and other bridges around the country," McCain told a group of people in a town-hall style meeting in Ankeny, Iowa.

"Maybe the 200,000 people who cross that bridge every day would have been safer than spending $233 million of your tax dollars on a bridge in Alaska to an island with 50 people on it."

I love the flip-flop ways of the republican party.
